The tournament did not copy professional models. It built a welcoming space where beginners could lose and still want to return. A local tournament's success should be measured by retention, not television ratings. Some may dismiss this event as low-level grassroots play. Women who had drifted away from sport found a safe space to play and raise money for breast cancer awareness. The £650 total is small by global sponsorship standards, yet locally it shows table tennis can connect with social causes. Looking at grassroots development, this event serves as a conversion funnel: donors become players, outsiders become members.
